{"id":140,"date":"2009-06-17T13:09:27","date_gmt":"2009-06-17T13:09:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/knowgst.ca\/blog\/?p=140"},"modified":"2009-06-18T21:50:10","modified_gmt":"2009-06-18T21:50:10","slug":"a-week-of-sadness","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/knowgst.ca\/blog\/?p=140","title":{"rendered":"A week of Sadness"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This last week has been a\u00c2\u00a0time of sadness and grieving with families.<\/p>\n<p>As most of you know 46 kids have passed away in the ABC daycare fire.\u00c2\u00a0 Shelli, having worked as a child life therapist in the Alberta Children&#8217;s Hospital, is trying to start a program here for the kids who remain with severe burns.\u00c2\u00a0 Burn treatments can last a long time with surgeries, skin grafting, etc. etc.\u00c2\u00a0 Child life thereapists help children deal emotionally,\u00c2\u00a0mentally and \u00c2\u00a0physical with the pain of these treatments by providing programs through games, music thereapy, puppets, play therapy, etc.\u00c2\u00a0 There is no such discipline here in Hermosillo.\u00c2\u00a0 Our goal is to train locals from the church in these areas and work with the families.\u00c2\u00a0 This would also give us a chance to minister to them spiritually.<\/p>\n<p>So far Shelli has been in contact with the Sacramento Burn center where some of the children were transfered and she has talked about the treatment with the Child life thereapist there.\u00c2\u00a0 She also had a meeting with our pediatrician regarding how to get the program into the hospitals here.\u00c2\u00a0 Dr, Bustamante our Ped. was one of the Drs. called into the hospital in the emergency of the fire.\u00c2\u00a0 He treated 3 children.\u00c2\u00a0 Only one made it.\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><em>If you want to know more about this ministry or how to give to purchase supplies contact us.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.news.com.au\/common\/imagedata\/0,,6661206,00.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Preparations for several funerals for the 46 that have passed on.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>On Thursday Greg received a phone call from Marcela in our church, her nextdoor neighbor&#8217;s mom was very sick in the hospital and Greg was asked to visit her.\u00c2\u00a0 He prayed for her and found out that she passed away minutes later.\u00c2\u00a0 Now to minister to that family.<\/p>\n<p>Saturday, Shelli heard screams somewhere on their block and thought their was a bad marital dispute.\u00c2\u00a0 Yesterday, through a phone call, Greg and Shelli found out that the screams came from a woman whose kids\u00c2\u00a0had attended our latest children&#8217;s club.\u00c2\u00a0Saturday night her husband fell with a massive heart attack.\u00c2\u00a0 He was\u00c2\u00a0 just in his early 40&#8217;s.\u00c2\u00a0 Her screams were out of desperation as she ran the street looking for help.<\/p>\n<p>Last night we walked around the corner (only just finding out that the family lived so close to us) and prayed with the mom, Maria Elena.\u00c2\u00a0 She fought back tears and held her little 3 year old.\u00c2\u00a0 From the door her 5 and 8 year old peaked out. Greg and Shelli held her and prayed.<\/p>\n<p>It is important the we can be Christ&#8217;s hands, feet, mouth.\u00c2\u00a0 In situations, like the last three written here, we do not have all the answers, but God knows suffering and pain.\u00c2\u00a0 Pray with us as we seek His direction in ministering to others in His love.<\/p>\n<p>Blessings, \u00c2\u00a0Shelli<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This last week has been a\u00c2\u00a0time of sadness and grieving with families.
