Update Email
 Dear Family and Friends,
Greetings from Mexico! The air-conditioning is on here as the heat turns up. A good thing they are saying (don’t know if it is scientifically true or not) about the heat is that the swine flu virus doesn’t like temperatures above 37C so we are good here in Hermosillo as it has been 40C or above for the last week. The heat may be good for something after all! The kids are finally back to school after 2 weeks of suspended school (swine flu prevention) right after coming off of 2 weeks holiday for Easter.  Kid’s here are going to start wishing for a flu epidemic like we used to wish for a lot of snow so they’d cancel school!Â

Shelli’s surgery
Shelli is having surgery this Monday (18th) to perform a medically necessary hysterectomy and to repair a hernia that has been causing her pain for a long time and has come to the point of urgently needing to be dealt with. We would ask you to please pray for protection for Shelli, wisdom and precision for the surgeons (the one surgeon is the same doctor that did the caesarean section for the birth of Caleb), a quick recovery and for our family as we adjust to letting Mommy rest for a few weeks. We are very glad that Shelli’s mom, Wendy, can come to help during this time. She arrives tomorrow, Saturday. Thank you for praying!

Baptism
This Sunday we are celebrating the baptism of 6 believers in Arbol de Vida! Talson, our oldest, is one of them which makes us extremely happy! It is neat that it worked out for his grandma to be here too! We’ll miss the rest of the family’s presence but know that they are with us in spirit. Please pray for opportunity to share, with friends that we have invited, the hope we have in Christ and that it would be a day of new birth for others!

Home Assignment
We are planning our time in Canada this fall. Thank the Lord for His provision of a house to stay in while we’re there, the parsonage at West Zion Mennonite Church, right next door to where Greg grew up!. During September, October and November we plan on sharing in your churches and homes what God is doing in Hermosillo. Please pray for us as we plan wisely, balancing ministry and family needs.

Koinonia
We just want to include an update from the Olds Koinonia Christian School mission a month and a bit ago. We praise the Lord for His protection, His grace in working all things together for good, for the people touched by the Gospel (200-300 children, many youth and adults) and for the changes He made and is continuing to make in the lives for those who received and in those who gave. Please pray for us as a church as we seek to follow up the many people that responded in different ways to the ministry that was done. Please pray for the group of 25+ women that responded to the gospel in a new area of the city that we are hoping to start a work in. Please pray for the many children that responded to Christ as they face opposition in their homes.

Thank you again for your prayer, support, love and encouragement. For more updates and stories please see our blog www.knowgst.ca/blog where we are trying to add updates weekly.
