Christmas Update!

¡Feliz Navidad/Merry Christmas to you and yours!

It looks like we’re going to have the treat of a white Christmas here in Alberta this year!  Shovelling the “white” on the other hand, well… on to other news!

We just wanted to take a minute to share about what life and ministry has looked like lately and what is around the corner in 2018.

Church Anniversary, Bible College Graduation and Cuba!
Árbol de Vida EFC celebrates 23 years of God’s faithfulness!
It was a blessing for me (Greg) to be in Mexico at the beginning of December to celebrate our church’s 23rd anniversary with a whole weekend of celebration with a night for families, a concert for youth, lots of food, cake and music! (The photo above is of our youth leading worship at the concert) I brought the message on Sunday and enjoyed being “at home” in Árbol de Vida.  During the week I was in Hermosillo I met with many people: church leaders, families, youth and missionaries.  God is working by His grace; saving and transforming lives!
Noé’s Graduation!
Then I had the joy of attending the graduation of Noé (above on the right – a dear youth of ours for many years) from Bible School in Ensenada, Mexico.  Our mission director Steve Neufeld and Don Leng, associate missionary with the E.F.C.C.M. from Surrey, B.C. were also able to attend with me.  It was great to be with our 4 students (Eduardo, Johana, Alejandro and Noé) at the Bible College for the evening!  Please pray for these students as they seek to prepare themselves for a life of service in God’s kingdom!
Then Steve, Don and I spend Saturday and Sunday in Vicente Guerrero on the Baja visiting an inspiring ministry that takes in and cares for elderly people without family that have been abandoned to the streets in Mexico.  Juan Vazquez (between Steve and I in the photo above) and his wife have run this ministry for at least 12 years.  This ministry partners with the E.F.C.C.M. and depends on donors to house, feed and care for the physical and spiritual health of these precious seniors.  It was really encouraging to see what God is doing in this ministry and to get to know Juan, a humble servant of God and His children.
Getting ready for Cuba! 
I am super excited to be taking 2 of our Árbol de Vida college and career adults to Cuba January 2018 to serve alongside 5 team members from Canada and our Cuban partners! Marilyn is a doctor and has been in our youth group for the past 7 years.  She has a heart for missions and has already served in missions in India and locally in Mexico.  Devir (I had the joy of praying with him when he received Christ and then baptize him over 7 years ago) is passionate for missions and has also served in India, Canada and in missions in Mexico.  The above picture was a planning meeting we had on my recent visit.  Apparently, my mouth was full of awesome Mexican food, yum! 🙂
We have been approved with Religious Visas and will be serving in evangelism, construction, preaching, ministering through music, small group sessions and blessing and encouraging believers and church leaders.

You can be part of this blessing!  The churches in Cuba face realities that we are totally clueless to as North American Christians.  We will be taking along supplies in order to accomplish our goals in ministry and each team members raises money toward the costs for construction material that we will use during the ten days we are in Cuba.
