SMILES 3rd Annual Burn Camp

God is so good and has answered prayer once again!

Shelli and I arrived back in Canada Tuesday night after a whirlwind week in Mexico.  We are so happy and thankful for all God did this year in the SMILES Burn Camp with the kids that are burn survivors of the 2009 daycare fire in Hermosillo and their siblings. 27 kids in all attended!

The camp was simply awesome!  Due to the incredible ministry of our 25 volunteers from Arbol de Vida, the generous support of the Sonoran government, brothers and sisters in Christ in San Carlos, the Arbol de Vida EFC church and YOU, the kids were treated to boat rides, dolphins, kayaks, great crafts, games and great messages of hope, joy and faith in God from our speaker Justina Page from Amos House of Faith Ministries in Houston, Texas and great counselling and teaching from Shelli.  And a huge thank you to the Casa De Esperanza retreat centre that provided the facilities for the camp. See photos below….

On Sunday we hosted the parents of the kids and Justina shared of her hope and joy in God even after being burnt herself, having her children burned and losing a child in a house fire in 1999.  It was an answer to prayer to be able to plant seeds of the Gospel and the hope Jesus brings again this year.  Please continue to pray for a fruitful harvest!
