The Prayers of a Little Girl
Today Annelise and I sat at the kitchen table talking about her friend, Fernando, a little boy from her class. As a family we have prayed several times for Fernando, we helped Annelise colour a large letter on a piece of poster board so that Fernando could read “we miss you Fernando”  from a helicopter, and Annelise has contributed some of her Christmas money to a little jar with Fernando’s picture on it at school. But why all the fuss about Fernando?Â
Fernando is an eight year old little boy who has been fighting Leukemia for over a year, he sat behind Annelise on the first day of school. On Tuesday we are all going to the local science center with Fernando, I have the privelege of being a chaperone. Annelise is very excited, but tonight we talked about the reality of the reasons for the trip. Little Fernandito has been given one more month to live, this may very well be his last outting to visit his friends in school, Annelise was sad, but then she talked about how special it would be because he would soon get to see Jesus, face to face. Then we prayed. It is amazing how a little girl can grasp how precious it is to walk with Jesus, sometimes more then us adults.
We ask you to pray for Fernando’s family, his school friends and for Fernando himself as he weathers this last little bit of his storm. He loves Jesus and so does his family. We know that God can still do miracles as well and we pray for that. Pray that if God does not heal that his death would bring many to know Christ.
